A planning inspector has rejected plans to build a two bedroom home on backgarden land in Watford.

Watford Borough Council threw out proposals for the new house to the rear of a property in Knutsford Avenue in February this year, on the grounds that it would “create a cramped form of development resulting in unsatisfactory living environment for the future residents” and “significant overbearing” on neighbouring properties.

Applicant Jenny Spencer appealed against this decision to the Planning Inspectorate.

But inspector Sue Glover upheld the council's decision, stating in a report published on September 13 that it would “harm prospective residents' living conditions in respect of outlook and light”, among other reasons.
