A woman from Maple Cross who was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries on Monday morning remains on a life-support machine, according to neighbours.
The Watford Observer reported yesterday how police had cordoned off a house in Ladywalk and forensic officers were at the scene.
The 43-year-old woman has been named locally as Alita.
A neighbour who asked not to be named said: “I was woken up by an ambulance and paramedic car at about five in the morning.
“I know the man who lives there well, he's a local boy, but not the girlfriend who is from Latvia.
“She was taken out on a stretcher and is still on life support now. They were going to move her to a hospital in London but are still trying to contact her family."
She added that Alita, who had been living with her partner for about four months, is thought to have fallen over on Friday and banged her head.
