A MAN jailed for assault has been banned from possessing solvent based substances in public, after glue sniffing led him to commit crime.
Craig Brealey, 33, of no fixed abode, was given an eight-week prison sentence for assault by Watford Magistrates on Tuesday, December 13.
The court also also issued him with an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (Asbo), because of a string of offences committed in the town.
On Monday, November 21, Brealey was spotted attempting to break into a property in Stanbury Avenue, Watford, by a 48-year-old man.
The witness intervened and was assaulted, causing facial injuries.
Police arrested Brealey later on the same day, in connection with the attack and two other offences.
During a ten-day period, Brealey was arrested a further three times for several other crimes.
After he is released from custody, Brealey will be subject to the terms of his Asbo.
These prohibit him from possessing any solvent based substances, such as glue, in a public place for the next year.
He is also prohibited from engaging in any behaviour that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person within Hertfordshire.
