A CHORLEYWOOD chef is living up to his pledge to stage a charity firework and music spectacular, in order to raise funds for Mount Vernon Hospital's cancer ward.
Ryan Wicks, 27, who also works as a DJ, is organising the event at Maple Cross to raise money for the cancer ward at the hospital.
Ryan said: "Last year, we raised more than £5,000 for Cancer Ward 10 at Mount Vernon Hospital.
"But this year, we are determined to double the amount. I have my colleague, Nick Thomas, on board again, who has extensive knowledge of event organisation, and together we make a top team."
With last year's funds, the hospital purchased three electric beds, worth £1,500 each.
Sue Barber, Ward Sister, said: "The beds made such a big difference to patients who can't move very well. This kind of sum is so hard to achieve. Raffles only make small amounts. This year we want to buy some mobile blood pressure machines. What Ryan, Nick and the bands have lined up is just brilliant."
The Firework and Concert Spectacular will take place at the Chiltern Social Club, Maple Lodge, Maple Cross on Sunday, November 6. In addition to live music, fireworks and food, there will also be a licensed bar, toilet facilites, plus a spacious car park.
Tickets cost £6 for adults, £3 for children under twelve or £15 for a family tickets (two adults and two children). Tickets are available from Chiltern Social, by telephoning the club on 01923 770677, from Chorleywood Flooring or at the gate, although advance booking is recommended. Gates open at 5pm.
For more information or tickets by post, telephone 07723 057 988 or 07734 678 858. All proceeds will go to Cancer Ward 10, Mount Vernon Hospital.
