A FLOWER festival held at Stanborough Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Garston last weekend raised £10,000 for hospice care for children and young adults.
The festival was organised by Audrey Balderstone, president of the Watford Flower Arrangers' Society, and her team of volunteers, who raise funds for the work of Helen and Douglas House hospice.
The centre provides 24-hour respite care for both children and parents of severely handicapped children up to 15 years.
Helen House has 40 sister homes in the UK. Douglas House, which caters for young adults between 16 and 40, opened in February.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the care of really disadvantaged children can do so by contacting Audrey Balderstone via e-mail abalderstone@btconnect.com; or by post at Helen and Douglas House, 37 Leopold Street, Oxford, OX4 1QT.
