REGULARS and locals at a Bricket Wood pub have raised over £3,200 for charity during their annual fundraising campaign.

Drinkers at The Black Boy in Old Watford Road, nominate a charity each year and collect money for it.

This year, they decided on the Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund, which finances holidays for children and young adults with the condition.

Landlord at the pub, Peter Dillingham, said: "I'd like to thank the regulars and the locals for their support in reaching this fabulous total."

He said that fundraising events this year had included a charity golf day in Essendon and a sponsored motorcycle ride to Malaga by James Wilson, Ian Ashby and Paul Robinson.

He said both events had raised considerable amounts of money and thanks were also due to Graham "Boycie" Dalvarez.

Spokesman for the charity, Howard Baws said: "It's the children's decision about what they want to do; they choose and we make it happen.

"I'm always impressed when members of the public raise money for charity.

"This came about because the regulars from the pub attended a comedy night that I run for the charity and they offered to help out.

"I was delighted they actually went out and did it."

Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease, which causes the body to produce a sticky mucus that clogs the lungs, digestive system and liver.

Mr Dillingham said that next year, the regulars are hoping to fund the training of two guide dogs, one named Blackie after the pub.

Last year the fundraisers contributed to a charity for leukaemia sufferers.
