TWO cases of cash were taken from a security van in Bushey by an armed robber who made his escape in a convertible Mercedes.
The van was parked at the Elf Service Station in Elton Way, Bushey, at 2.20pm last Friday when the robber, who was wearing a bandana across his face, struck.
The man, described as stocky, black and about 5ft 10in, approached a security van at the garage and threatened one of the guards with a gun, asking him to hand over money.
The security guard's colleague, who was inside the van, passed out two cases of cash. The robber grabbed the cases and then made off round the corner.
He got into a convertible silver Mercedes and drove off almost colliding with another vehicle in the process. It is believed the Mercedes may have been heading towards Hartspring Lane or Edgware.
The robber had muscly arms, and was wearing a green t-shirt with a white logo across the chest, dark jogging bottoms and trainers.
Detective Constable Noel Buckley said: "We would like to speak to anyone who was at the petrol station at the time of this offence.
"We would also like to speak to anyone who saw the Mercedes drive at speed on the A41 between 2.2pm and 2.30pm, or who was near the Toby Carvery at this time.
"We are also appealing to a bus driver to come forward. The bus blocked the path of the Mercedes, as the robber's car tried to go round the roundabout the wrong way at the Toby Carvery."
Anyone with relevant information about the robbery can telephone 01707 638237, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
