GOLFERS from Bushey and Radlett have won a charity tournament which raised £70,000 for young disabled adults and holocaust survivors.

The Jewish Care Pro-Am Golf Tournament took place at The Grove, in Watford, on Sunday.

Neil Black from Bushey played with his brother Robert, along with Lawrence Saffer of Radlett and east region professional, Kevin Grice, made up the winning team.

Neil said: "Kevin played beautifully and we all slotted in well."

A member of the Hartsbourne Golf Club, he described his own play as: "not bad."

Kevin said: "I'm very pleased with the result.

"It was good fun, the team played well."

Lawrence, who had not met the Black brothers prior to the tournament and joined their team through a draw on the day, said: "I didn't know them before, but we are friends now.

"I'll be back next year to defend the title."

Their team completed the course 19 under par, one shot ahead of the runners up, led by Pro-Am chairman, Jeremy Curtis.

Jeremy Curtis, chairman of Jewish Care's Pro-Am Golf Tournament, said: "It was a fantastic day and everyone enjoyed themselves.

"I am delighted with the amount raised."

The £70,000 was raised through a combination of sponsorship, advertising sales, entry fees and a charity auction held on the day.

The money will be split between Rela Goldhill Lodge in Golders Green, Jewish Care's home for younger adults with physical and sensory disabilities and the Holocaust Survivors' Centre in Hendon.

This was the charity tournament's 28th year.
