A SOUTH OXHEY football team has had the whistle blown on their season before it has started.
Members of Oxhey United under-9s team turned up for their training session last Sunday to find that their kit had been stolen.
With their first season due to start on Sunday, September 25, the team were heartbroken.
Sarah Knight's son and daughter play for the team, and she is furious that thieves have dashed their hopes of a fun season.
She said: "I can't understand why anyone would do this.
"At the moment they are training in other teams' kits, but they need their own one."
The kits were being stored in a lock-up in Oxhey Playing Fields.
The team are appealing for a local good samaritan to help them out of their trouble and donate or contribute towards a new kit.
