Diane Whitney wrote in by e-mail with further recollections of 1960's stars in the early days.
She writes: "After seeing the article about The Rolling Stones, it brought to mind something my husband told me some years ago.
"He knew a lady named Queeny who was a usherette at the Gaumont. There were some scruffy-looking boys trying to get in a side door and she was not going to let them in. They turned out to be The Rolling Stones themselves.
"They must have got in OK as I remember seeing them, and many more stars, at that time who appeared at the Gaumont.
"I can remember The Everly Brothers, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, The Tornados.
"We had a lot better chance of seeing our pop stars perform live than the youngsters do today."
