FIREFIGHTERS from across the district will be working up a lather for charity at a national car wash on Saturday.
Teams from Watford, Rickmansworth and Garston fire stations will be taking part in the Fire Service's National Benevolent Fund's (FSNBF) National Car Wash.
The event will take place on the station courtyards and will give those people who keep putting off washing their car a chance to chat to the firefighters about fire safety, while their car is being given a gleaming polish.
The FSNBF is a charity that raises funds for fire service personnel and their families in times of physical and emotional need.
It was established during World War Two to support the widows and orphans of firefighters killed in the line of duty.
There will be a healthy bout of competition on the day, as each station tries to reach the highest amount of money raised.
Watford fireman Andy Marshallfay said: "Here at Watford we're the biggest, and the best.
"We look forward to beating the amounts raised by the other stations in the area."
