THREE busy residential roads in Watford are to be added to a controlled parking zone, which has all-day enforcement.
Benskin Road, Brightwell Road and Hagden Lane (numbers 2-98 and 1-33) are to be included in a scheme, which is controlled from Monday to Saturday, between 8am to 6.30pm.
Customers of local businesses will have to find other places to park when the new controls come into effect, although Watford Borough Council is looking into the provision of short-stay pay and display or shared use bays.
More than 400 residents and business proprietors in West Watford will see their roads become part of the scheme and will now need to purchase permits in order to park on the roads.
This week, Watford Borough Council wrote to residents in the above streets advising that the draft order will shortly be advertised in the local press and on the streets.
As part of the statutory legal process, a short period of time must be allowed to consider any objections made by residents, before the final order can be confirmed in November.
At the beginning of the year, residents in these streets were balloted to confirm their agreement to this change.
Councillor Andy Wylie, portfolio holder responsible for transport and parking issues, said: "The council has listened to everthing that residents and business proprietors have told us they want, and this week we have written to each household affected to explain the process of making the changes."
Further details of how residents can change their permits will be provided nearer the time.
