A POSTER competition organised by Three Rivers District Council has inspired more than 400 primary school children in the district to get creative.
The competition asks school children to create a poster which shows what can be recycled and composted through the kerbside collections the council has in place, to help encourage all families to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.
Eight schools across the district have entered the competition, and hundreds of schoolchildren will be working on their posters this summer.
The lucky designers of the winning posters will receive £30 of HMV vouchers, and their schools will receive a planter box made from recycled plastic bottles, with compost and plants so the whole school can enjoy the greenery year after year.
Councillor Phil Brading, public services and health portfolio holder, said: "The response to this competition has been fantastic.
"We are so pleased to see so many children and schools taking an interest in how they can help to protect their local environment."
