TWO sisters from Watford will be donning their walking boots to raise money for a cancer charity in memory of their mother next month.
Ellen Walker and her sister, Jenny Greenaway, will be joined by sons, Neal and Jay Greenaway, and their girlfriends, Sarah Veith and Emily Williams, on the Devoted to Life Walk, organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care on Sunday, September 11.
They will be walking in memory of Jenny and Ellen's mother, Mary Cross, who was cared for at home by Marie Curie nurses, but died in April. Jenny said: "We are taking part in the Devoted to Life Walk to raise much-needed funds for Marie Curie nurses .
"Without their support we would not have been able to look after mum at home in her last days."
The walk starts in the landscaped gardens of Hunton Park. Routes of two, seven and nine miles are available to walkers, who pay a £5 registration fee and should raise a minimum of £60 in sponsorship.
Funds raised will be used to support the Marie Curie nurses, who work throughout Hertfordshire to provide terminally ill cancer patients with the choice of being able to die at home. Entry forms can be obtained from the fundraising office on 01920 468956.
