IN an attempt to promote the forthcoming National Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, churches in St Albans are employing an altogether more modern way of getting their message across - the Internet.

Churches Together in St Albans, a group of more than 30 local churches, is now at www.stalbans.gov.uk/religion/ctsa.htm.

The Rev Michael Bochenski, convenor of Churches Together, explained the motives for reaching out to web surfers.

"More and more people in St Albans, the UK and across the world are using the Internet to communicate," he said.

"By putting our annual report on our Web Site, we are making it available internationally, and demonstrating our commitment to use modern methods to get our message across."

The report describes a packed 1997 for the group.

And 1998's events begin with the National Week of Prayer, from January 18 to 25, when Churches Together will organise a series of services and talks.
