A 3-2 DEFEAT against Oxhey Jets proved to be the last straw for Sandridge boss Steve Petts, who handed in his resignation straight afterwards.

Petts, who took over at Rovers last season after a successful run in the reserves, was said to be very disappointed with the players' attitude throughout the club and the lack of interest in training.

He has been replaced by Ted Goldney who has previously had spells with Finchley, St Albans and Elliott Star.

Rovers played well in patches on Saturday but looked a team lacking in confidence.

They conceded two goals in the first 25 minutes, both the result of schoolboy errors.

The second half saw Rovers throw everything in attack and were unlucky not to score in the first five minutes.

Oxhey staged a quick counter attack down the left flank and when the ball was crossed in they made it 3-0.

The ever reliable Andy Grindrod pulled one back for the Rovers with 12 minutes left and six minutes later, after intense Rovers pressure, Grindrod scored a second with a shot from the edge of the area.

A minute later Rovers thought they had equalised when Hansard headed in from a corner, but the referee disallowed it after seeing an infringement.
