MAKING WAVES is the evocative title of Watford printmaker, Frances Garaghty's new show, which opens at the Palace Theatre Watford Green Room next week.
The stir starts with an art evening and preview with the artist and members of the Watford Area Arts Forum on Thursday, January 29 from 8pm.
Frances graduated last year as a mature student from the University of Hertfordshire. Her sculpture of waves was a major talking point at the degree show and the sea has now provided the inspiration for a series of prints.
Based on photographs, Frances took on holiday in Poole and at home of the iced-over River Colne, the prints reflect her fascination with the patterns, water makes, whether fluid or frozen.
The show, which continues until March 7, is the first in a new series of Green Room exhibitions.
Organiser John Horsfield, who selects artists and works, said: "This is going to be another great exhibition. If you share our love for art, you will be kicking yourself if you miss it or, indeed, any of the exhibitions. We have another great season for you."
Future exhibitions include work by Mary Edwards, a talented, self-taught artist, and a exhibition of waistcoats ad wall-hangings by Hertfordshire artist Ruth Herbert.
(The Green Room exhibitions at the Palace Theatre Watford can be viewed Monday to Saturday, between 6pm and 10pm. Admission free).
