Children from the Boreham Wood Athletics Club achieved consistently high scores on Sunday when they travelled to Watford for the Eastern Young Athletes League.
Competing against clubs from Chelmsford, Watford and Kettering in both the A and B sections of the contest, a host of children from the club achieved top three places in a variety of sports.
In the under-15 girls group, Tova Brown threw the discus 16.21 metres, the shot 6.4 metres and the javelin 18.90 metres, achieving first place in all three of the A stream competitions for her age group.
Gemma Young came first in the 75 metre hurdles, recording a time of 13.6 seconds, and third in the 200 metres, sprinting to the finish line in 32 seconds. She also came second in the High Jump, clearing 1.40 metres.
The under-13 boys group also came home with honours. Jack Powell came first in the long jump, leaping 3.96 metres, and third in the 80 metre hurdles with a time of 16.4 seconds.
Ben Smith beat his previous best record in the 1500 metres by two minutes to reach third place with a time of six minutes, 44.6 seconds, while Christopher Walker ran the 800 metres in three minutes and 31 seconds, achieving third place.
Criag Welling came second in the long jump, reaching 3.24 metres.
Daniel James hurled the shot 5.98 metres, reaching second place in the B stream while his team-mate Christopher Clark reached third place in the separate A stream with a distance of 6.39 metres.
Darren Brova and his brother Ryan Brova both achieved top three places in the javelin competition.
Darren, in the under-17 boys group, threw 29.59 metres while Ryan, in the under-15 group, threw 16.31 metres as well as finishing the 800 metres in third place with a time of two minutes and 58.7 seconds.
