Shenley Village ll 200-6
Stevenage lV 88
With rainclouds looming overhead for the second week running Shenley Village made the most of their time on the field and romped home with a convincing win over Stevenage on Saturday.
After losing the toss Shenley were put in to bat, where Chris Stanley (29) and Dave Affleck (73 not out) gave the Villagers an impressive start with a partnership of 57 off 15 overs.
Steve Scott and Dave Affleck built on Shenley's success, taking their score to 106 in the 23rd over.
Drizzle threatened to halt play but the Villagers carried on with Ray McLennon (30) in good form. By the 35th over the score was at 160.
Manzi, Kemp and Woodward arrived at the wicket giving Shenley another 20 runs, enough to declare 200 for 6 after 45 overs, the highest score Shenley had managed this year to date. They were left with 55 overs to bowl Stevenage out.
Shenley's bowlers failed to disappoint, with spinner Matt Woodward taking 4 for 30 in 14 overs, and with Dave Affleck making three excellent catches, victory seemed imminent before Stevenage's last two batsmen dug in to last 14 overs.
Eventually Stevenage were all out for 88 after 44 overs, and Shenley won maximum points for the second time in their last ten games.
