Highgate 269-5
Mill Hill Village 273-7
Fullers Middlesex Championship Division One
Mill Hill Village stamped themselves as one of the strongest batting sides in the League following a stunning run chase at Highgate last Saturday.
Needing 270 for victory off just 48 overs, the Village top-order of Andy Fish (25), Matthew Brewster (80, one six, 11 fours,) and Michael Nairn (53, three sixes) batted superbly before a middle-order collapse saw the visitors staring at defeat at 218-7.
But in a thrilling climax, all-rounder Lewis Glover (39 not out) and skipper Richard Downes (12 no) smashed 31 runs off the final three overs to steer the Village home with just two balls to spare.
The victory marked a great day for the Village as all four senior teams won.
The firsts fielded a depleted bowling attack but with Highgate well placed at 216-2 off 46 overs, the Village did well to concede only 53 runs in the final nine overs.
Glover (1-72 off 18) was the pick of the bowlers, while fellow spinners Downes and Nairn took two wickets apiece.
This Saturday, second-placed Village visit top-of-the-table Harrow Town.
