Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seen near a Borehamwood school with a knife.
The man was seen holding a penknife-size knife at the pedestrian entrance, in Grove Road, to Woodlands First School, at 3.40pm last Monday, July 3.
The man was spotted by a young boy, who was on his way home from Cowley Hill First School, in Borehamwood.
The boy reported seeing the man then walk towards Meadow Park.
A Hertfordshire police spokeswoman said the incident was suspicious, and added: 'It might be totally innocent or it might be something else.'
The spokeswoman said: 'He did not threaten anyone with this knife, did not say anything, nor was he waving it about.'
When the boy told his mother what he had seen she took him into Woodlands First School's office, from where police were called.
The details of the incident have been passed to all Borehamwood police officers, and Hertfordshire police are appealing to anyone who saw the man, or has any information, to call them. He is described as white, elderly, balding with some white hair, of thin build, clean-shaven and wore blue jeans and a T-shirt.
The police spokeswoman said: 'Fortunately there was not any threat, but obviously, we take such reports seriously.'
If you have information call Borehamwood police on 020 8905 1212.
