DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a woman was indecently assaulted in Castle Gardens, Bishop's Stortford, at 1am on Tuesday July 11.
Police say she was walking through the war memorial area when she was grabbed from behind by a man who told her he had a knife.
The man indecently assaulted her and ran off towards Castle Mound down Lime Tree Walk when a loud car horn startled him.
The man was white, about 6ft 1in tall, of medium build with dark, long, unwashed hair in an unkempt style. He had full lips, a large Adams apple, was unshaven and of pale complexion.
He was wearing a dark-coloured bomber-style jacket, loose combat-style trousers and a t-shirt with a white sports logo.
Anyone with any information should ring Detective Constable Karen Hussey in strict confidence on 01992 533458 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Callers, who are given a unique reference code, do not have to give their name and may qualify for a cash reward.
