Shenley Village II 114
Monken Hadley 115-3
Herts Cricket League
Division Ten
Though the Villagers won the toss and elected to bat first on Saturday they were unable to repeat last weekend's strong start.
As a result they lost Seinthon (6) with only seven on the scoreboard. And with three more quick wickets going for poor shots the score was 4-30 meaning the innings total was never going to be very high.
However, through the partnership of McLennan (49) and Stubbs (25no) Shenley's innings to climb. During his time at the crease McLennan was removed just one run short of his half-century but he had helped to post a score of 95.
Of the next four Shenley batsmen only Hines (8) scored and the innings finally closed on 114 all out off 44 overs.
With such a small total to defend the Villagers opted to go on the offensive with the spin of Jenkins and the reliable seam bowling of Lillywhite (2-35).
The latter took two quick wickets when the score was on 39 and 45. No further chances were taken until Putman (1-9) had an lbw appeal upheld, and with the score at 89 there was still an opportunity.
But Monken's batsmen were good, and without more runs to play for, Shenley couldn't contain them as they reached 115 in just 28 overs.
