Stanmore pay the price
Stanmore 187-9 dec. Uxbridge 110-9
Grolsch Middlesex County League Division One
Dropped catches proved costly for Stanmore in both their weekend matches. After Uxbridge were allowed to escape with a draw in Saturday's league match, Stanmore were again punished for missed opportunities when knocked out of the ECB National Cup by Saffron Walden.
On a poor wicket at Uxbridge, Rob Hesketh (47), Peter Edwards (43), Jeff Hurrell (35) and skipper Alastair Fraser (20) showed sound application as Stanmore reached 187-9 declared, off 68 overs.
Uxbridge were quickly in trouble at 10-2, but they were let off the hook through missed chances and held on for a draw at 110-9 (Dave Dunn 5-37) .
In the cup-tie, Saffron Walden (223-6) had Giles Eccleston (79) dropped when on just 10 to thank.
Stanmore lost Edwards to the second ball of the innings and never recovered, finally being dismissed for 105.
