The first summer fete at Shenley's new Jewish school, Clore Shalom, was declared a success, despite bad weather.

Around 300 adults attended Clore Shalom School's recent summer fete, the first at the school which opened in September last year, in Hugo Gryn Way.

Attractions at the fete included stalls, face-painting, biscuit-decorating, a bouncy castle and food like bagels and hot-dogs.

There was also toy-fish catching from a paddling pool, as well as roll-a-ball.

Tickets to The Dome were given away as the top prize in a raffle.

Pouring rain failed to stop play, and the fete was moved indoors.

Parent Irene Blaston said: 'We had tremendous support ,, almost every single family in the school was represented. We are still quite a small school with 70 to 80 families; just about everyone was there.'

Just over £2,000 was raised from the day, which will be used to provide playground equipment for the children.
