Would you knowingly expose yourself to potentially dangerous cancer-inducing radiation?
Hundreds of Barnet residents do not have a choice.
What will it take before Barnet Council follows Harrow's lead and starts objecting to mobile phone masts until more is known about the risks?
Edgware residents are ready to tear their hair out and with good reason.
No sooner had one campaign group formed to fight a 12m mast in Broadhurst Avenue, when three more applications were submitted ,, two in for Hale Lane and one in The Rise.
They have formed a campaign too, but it is unlikely anything will be done to stop them.
The phone companies are well within their rights ,, the masts need no planning permission ,, and Barnet is following the law to the letter. So why has Harrow Council objected to more than 50 masts since October last year and not yet faced one appeal?
All residents want is some peace of mind. The stories of radiation emissions and long term effects to memory and attention spans may be unfounded.
The fact that the unsightly masts could bring down house prices might be unfounded.
But would you want to take that risk? Would you take that risk for your own life, or the lives of your children?
Come on Barnet, start listening to your residents and stop approving these unsightly, potentially dangerous masts until you know they are safe.
