Radlett III 227-7
Ampthill Town II 170-7
Herts Cricket League Division Six
Radlett made all the running in this draw against third-placed Town last weekend.
The men from the Hill won the toss and batted first. Though this wasn't the start they had been hoping for as Matt Bell (4) was rapidly dismissed.
At 8-2 things looked bleak, however, the partnership of David Irwin and Mike Clark posted a stylish 50, forming the cornerstone of Radlett's innings. When they were taken out the score was a reasonable 85-4.
Tony Johnson and Gitay next entered the fray and helped the side to achieve a decent 140-5. After Gitay departed for a sizzling 59 Sudbury muscled in smacking 31.
Radlett's final score of 227-7 was clinched by Johnson's beautifully-paced 46no with assistance from John Crocker and Andy Saunders.
Town's reply was somewhat muted and they never appeared capable of getting runs. Consequently at 110-6 with 12 overs remaining a Radlett win was on the cards. However, on an easy-going pitch Town couldn't be prized out for love nor money and a draw was the eventual outcome.
