CHILDREN admitted to the Hornets Ward at Watford General Hospital will now have access to the latest educational information technology (IT) equipment as a result of mathematics wizard Carol Vorderman's £125,000 win on ITV's Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Business development manager of Tiny Computers head office Mr Chris Jump presented the PC to hospital teacher and ward clerk Vivian Payne last Thursday.

The donation stems from Tiny Computers' agreement to match the win pound for pound, in support of Ms Vorderman's aim to make IT equipment available to children in hospital.

A spokesman from Tiny Computers said: 'We have ensured top educational software is included, as well as a modem, linking the children to the outside world.'

Organised by the charity Express Link-Up, the Hornets Ward at the hospital in Vicarage Road received IT equipment to the retail value of more than £1,200.

Ms Natalie Grazin, Head of children's services for West Herts Community Health NHS Trust said: 'It is so important that children can continue their education while they're with us in hospital.

'We can't do this without the right equipment and this is a real boost to the ward.
