Elstree II 139 Shenley Village 140-1
Shenley's victory wasn't all plain sailing. Elstree's batsmen were soon on the backfoot at 12-1 off 11 overs. But with a small outfield and a quick onslaught of boundaries they raced to 82-2.
Howlet (56) played a dogged innings and at 110-4 with 13 overs left, the game was nicely poised. But Woodward (4-38) and Ed Lillywhite (4-36) ripped through Elstree's middle order and at 139 all out they were at least 30 runs short of a reasonable total.
Shenley's openers made Elstree's bowlers look very ordinary and they cruised to 60 before Munting (17) was caught behind.
Colin Searle played some elegant shots as he and Chris McDonald took Shenley to 110-1 off 38 overs. 30 runs were needed for victory, and Shenley's batsmen made easy work from Elstree's poor bowling. Colin Searle (88 not out) and Chris McDonald (28 no) took Shenley to 140-1. With three victories on the trot, Shenley's promotion is back on after moving to fourth in the league.
