Shaftesbury Barnet's European Cup triple jump hero Larry Achike leads a parade of Sydney Olympics team contenders in action for the final British Athletics League Division One meeting at Barnet Copthall Stadium on Sunday.
But Achike, who helped Britain to a totally unexpected triumph in the team competition with his lifetime best leap of 17.31 metres in Gateshead, will be taking a rest from his No 1 event. Instead, he'll be donning their white and black-striped Shaftesbury vest in the sprint relay.
This weekend's match, being organised by Belgrave Harriers, with support from Shaftesbury, was originally scheduled for the new Millennium Arena in Battersea Park. But it was switched to Copthall due to problems with the new facility when it failed to get certificate approval from UK Athletics, the sport's governing body.
It means that local athletic fans get another top class meeting on their doorstep, starting at 11.30am and running through to 4.20pm.
Shaftesbury welcome back their English cross-country international Dominic Bannister, who will be having his first track race of the year over 5000m.
They also include AAA U23 high jump champion Robert Mitchell, and World junior champion David Parker in the javelin.
Newham and essex Beagles include Britain's No 1 shot putter Mark Proctor, and reigning champions Belgrave, the UK's leading hammer thrower Mick Jones, formerly of Shaftesbury. Both throwers are keen to show their fitness for next weekend's Olympic trials after suffering disruptive injuries.
