Poor batting leaves Stanmore looking into the league abyss
Wembley 199-9 dec. Stanmore 107
Grolsch Middlesex County
League Division One
With two to go down to Division Two, Stanmore have dropped into the bottom two as Wembley climbed above them with this victory.
But Hornsey were left propping up the table, following their defeat by leaders Finchley. Stanmore are home to Brondesbury on Saturday, and will be out to ease their relegation worries by repeating Sunday's splendid Evening Standard Trophy victory over the defending champions.
After letting Wembley off the hook, Stanmore produced a poor batting display.
In trouble at 84-6 (P Smith 36), Wembley fought back well.
Stanmore slumped to 67-7 (Richard Brooker 31) and, despite a fighting knock by Mark Dyson, whose 47 included nine fours and a six, were dismissed for 107 (Eve 6-40).
Southgate II 236-5 dec. (J Hobbs 71), Stanmore II 134-7. Stanmore 111 144, Richmond III 145-3.
