A Shenley woman hopes to bridge the generation gap by bringing people from retirement homes together with the village's children.
Linda Lam, from Russet Drive, plans to bring 60 people from retirement homes around the village to the Walled Garden in Shenley, where they will meet children from Fairfield School in Radlett and take part in an art project called Paint the Town Red.
The event, scheduled for next month, will include activities such as drawing, singing, dance and story-telling by some of the more senior people there. After the event drawings made on the day would be exhibited at the Radlett Centre.
Carmen Beale, from the Radlett Art Society, is interested in the project, and has promised to bring members of the society to the event to help the young ,, and the not so young ,, artists taking part.
'Its a very ambitious project; I've said the society will help in any way it can,' she said.
Miss Lam, who moved to the area five years ago from Essex, said: 'My parents have grandchildren, and I've seen the special relationship they have with each other; I'm hoping the same sort of thing can happen here.
'I would love this to become an annual event. I think it's a good way to get people aware that we do have older people who have a lot of things to teach young children.
'This sort of thing is not really in my field though, I haven't done anything like it before,' she said.
For the project to take place, Miss Lam needs raise around £700, and is looking for sponsors.
