SHENLEY Cricket Centre, in Shenley, has been given a major boost with the news that it will host the one-day series between Sri Lanka and Middlesex in May of next year.
The matches will take place between May 11 and May 13 and will give local cricket fans the chance to watch Sri Lanka, one of the world's top one day teams and former world champions, live.
The match is the latest big game to be honoured to the centre after the Lashings XI side from Kent played there in August.
That match featured the likes of Brian Lara, Richie Richardson and the Hollioake brothers, Adam and Ben.
The centre also hopes to host a match between Middlesex and Lancashire in September of next year.
Over 1,000 people turned up in the summer to watch the England ladies test match against Australia ladies and more than three times that number would be expected to turn up to watch Sri Lanka.
