FULLERIANS continued their flying start to the season with a 28-16 success at home to Hemel Hempstead, extending their winning run to six matches.
However, the omens did not look good for Fullers prior to the match as they lost their loose head prop through injury, and then, during the warm up, winger Kevin Sorkin limped off with a hamstring problem.
After urgent reshuffling and a scoreless first 15 minutes, the home side took full advantage of the sin binning of the Hemel captain to score a try through Luke Raphael.
Shortly before half time, a good passage of play saw Mark Holdsworth score in the corner to give Fullers a comfortable interval lead.
In the second half, Fullers added two more tries, courtesy of strong running by fly half Kim McClellan and wing Sam Khanna, supported well by Holdsworth.
"It was a good all round performance, especially with the dramas before kick off," said delighted Fullers captain Kevin Brind.
"The guys kept their composure and discipline which paid off.
"There was a better second half performance than in recent weeks, but areas we can still build on," added Brind, who praised the performances of team-mates Derek Cowan, John Miles and Jon Stringer
