Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter has stated he will take his time over his next managerial appointment following the resignation of Jimmy Gilligan early last week, restating his intention to select someone outside the professional game.
In response to suggestions made by former manager Gary Phillips, now at Hemel Hempstead Town, that he was a demanding chairman, Hunter said: "Gary's situation at Boreham Wood was totally different to Gilligan's.
"Gary was part-time and in my opinion it became obvious not the man to take us to promotion.
"As far as Jimmy was concerned, I did expect him to work hard; it was his first managerial role.
"He asked for a full-time post and company car, wanted complete control on all football aspects, from youth, community to First Team, which he got. He also had complete backing from everyone at the club."
