WEST HERTS ladies were on the back foot for much of their encounter with Bedford on Saturday, October 6, and paid the price with a heavy 6-0 defeat.
Things started badly for West Herts before the match even began when a failure of communication meant they had to start a player short.
The talented and well drilled Bedford side took full advantage of their additional numbers and soon took the lead.
With less than 15 minutes gone, West Herts suffered a further blow when they were reduced to nine after centre-half Tracey Barr pulled a hamstring and had to be helped from the field.
The side battled on gamely against the odds, and gained some respite when restored to ten players just before half time.
However, it remained largely one-way traffic, with West Herts rarely managing to break out of defence.
Keeper Sian Weavers was always in the action, and made a number of good saves, to deny the Bedford forwards, and only narrowly missing out on winning the man-of-the-match vote.
That award went to Liz Harding for her determined tackling on the left of the pitch to deny Bedford shooting chances on a number of occasions.
