Hayes 15 Hendon 100
RFU Junior Cup (second round)
Hendon rattled up 100 points for their biggest win for a long time, as they stormed into the third round of the RFU Junior Cup on Saturday.
After establishing a 45-8 lead down the slope by the interval, Hendon added 55 more points in the second half.
It only took a few minutes for Hendon to realise that they only had to spread the ball wide and their threequarters would do the rest.
Manager Micky Harber and coach John Brown were euphoric about the talent of Hendon's two Fijians, Joe Masives and Nuku Maduka, together with the raw skills of the former colts and Richard Branningham.
Newcomer Branningham scored a fine individual try in a burst from Hendon's 22, with seven opponents unable to stop him.
Much to their credit, Hayes, a divison below Hendon, never gave up the fight and were rewarded with three tries from their heavier forwards.
After a long spell in the doldrums, Hendon had something special to celebrate.
