South Herts Ladies 2nd 1 Bishop Stortford 3rd 1
Herts Five Counties League Division Three
South Herts Ladies second XI hockey team battled to a 1-1 draw against Bishops Stortford third XI in their latest Herts Five Counties league game on Saturday.
With three of their players missing through injury, the home side came under considerable pressure in the first 15 minutes before fighting back and taking the lead when a Cate Jackson cross was tapped in by Sophia Brown.
The lead was preserved until the second half when a break by Bishops Stortford against a tired defence led to the equaliser.
Goalkeeper Ann Stewart made some heroic saves late on to ensure a share of the points, despite carrying a knee injury.
The first XI chalked up their third league win in a row with a 3-1 away victory over West Herts on Saturday.
Goals by Sarah Anderson, Caroline Stanners and Laura Taylor, who converted a penalty flick, were enough to see off their rivals.
The third XI match was cancelled after the opposition were unable to raise a team. South Herts were awarded the game and the points.
