A homeless man, banned from using violent and threatening behaviour in the borough's Tube stations for the next seven years, has been fined £1 and given one day's detention.

Selwyn Wright, 37, could have been imprisoned for five years and fined £5,000 for breaching the ban, but Hendon magistrates opted for a more lenient sentence at Tuesday's hearing.

They heard how on three occasions he breached an anti-social behaviour order given to him in May.

His offences at Finchley Central, East Finchley and Woodside Park Tube stations date back more than seven years. He has been accused of shoving staff and passengers, swearing, urinating, ticket touting, loitering and begging.
