A young family was viciously attacked by a pack of bulldogs in Totteridge on Sunday.

The Start family from Westbury Road, North Finchley, were walking their Jack Russell, Wizard, along fields off Totteridge Green when a woman in her late 20s approached with about ten dogs, mostly British bulldogs.

Wizard was attacked by several of the dogs, and the children aged nine, seven, and four screamed with horror as they saw their pet being ripped apart.

Michael Start said: "I've got about 20 teeth marks on my body one that drew blood. Wizard has ten-plus puncture wounds, cuts to his head, ear, back leg and a deep two-inch cut under his front leg.

"If Maria his wife had not been able to move the children away up the path in the first minute, they would have been immediately knocked to the ground and savaged by the pack. We're all pretty shaken."

A police spokeswoman said that the woman, who owns the land where the attack happened, has been questioned by police and an investigation continues.
