Shenley went out on Sunday with a makeshift defence, after skipper Dave Smith broke his foot during the previous meeting.

They played some nice football, and Andrew Berry linked well with James Gregory, who sliced a shot wide in front of an open goal early in the game.

This stirred Chipperfield, who went on the attack and won a free kick.

Their striker shot the ball into the roof of the net for the opener.

The first half was scrappy, but ended with Sports striker Gregory outwitting the defence to chip home the equaliser.

Shenley Sports were awesome in the second half, with Gregory's second goal following a ten-pass move.

In-form striker Chris Strange then made it three, with a shot that nearly broke the goal!

Then the Chipperfield goalkeeper shanked a goalkick, and Andrew Berry scored an easy goal, making it 4-1.

Chipperfield were then awarded a penalty, following Colin Gray's attempted piggy-back on the opposition striker, who scored to make things 4-2. Shenley were now dominating the game and won a corner. David O'Sullivan struck crossed to the far post for classy defender Adam Mitchinson to score with a diving header, much to the delight of his father, Alf.

Manager Craig Osborne said: "We played some great football today, and I was pleased with the new lad Gary Fitzsimmons."

Shenley: Weinrich, Mitchinson, Gray, Story, Tipper, Hudson, Berry, Fitzsimmons, Gregory, Strange, O'Sullivan.

Sports face St Albans North at Tempsford on Sunday, at 2pm.
