Directors hat-trick of victories ended on a bumpy pitch in far-away Hitchin last Sunday.
With manager Mark Bennett having taken on the Bing Crosby role and gone fishing, the team descended into anarchy after half time, when their hosts ran away with the match.
Things could have been so different, however, for after Mark Gilbank gave them an early lead, the defenders successfully weathered the storm, soaking up the home pressure without too many worries.
But five minutes from the break, Liam Willingham conceded a penalty, which was converted for the equaliser.
Seconds from the break Directors player Lol Davis was blatantly brought down in the box, for a spot kick for the visitors.
Lewis, who had notched from the spot a week before, sent his kick sadly wide, and with it Directors' best chance of a result.
During the second half their performance fell away, leaving them with that old lament of cup losers there's always next year.
