Customers are being invited to try out Borehamwood's new-look library, which has undergone a revamp costing around £100,000.
The library, in Elstree Way, re-opened on Monday, having been closed for the past two months.
Improvements to the building include a new enquiries desk, improved lighting, a new shelving arrangement to improve access to books, new disabled toilet and improved benches for computers.
Library manager Denise Ellis said: "It is much brighter and there is much more space.
"We have got more space for more computers, which we hope to get in the future."
While refurbishment work was carried out, a trailer in the library's car park provided a temporary service.
The improvements were started, on August 6, in response to the results of a users' survey.
Hertfordshire County Council said the improvements will also allow the library to start a homework club for children after school.
The council has also said it has long-term plans to demolish the library and replace it with a larger building.
The library's opening times have returned to normal: 10.30am to 8pm on Mondays, 9.30am to 8pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9.30am to 5pm on Fridays, and 9.30am to 4pm on Saturdays. It is closed on Thursdays and Sundays.
