BISHOP'S Stortford Swifts Reserves moved conclusively into the third round of the Herts Junior Cup with an impressive 6-0 win over Bushey Metropolitan Police A on Saturday at Silver Leys.

The game was won in the first 12 minutes as goals from Craig Thurley, Peter Binks and Dave Baker put Swifts 3-0 up.

There were no further goals before the interval but, in the second half, Swifts gained reward for their their dominance when Kevin Fidell added the fourth and fifth goals, both from headers.

Before the final whistle, Craig Thurley, whose sixth-minute goal had opened the scoring, put the icing on the cake with the sixth goal.

Swifts under-16s travelled to Chipperfield Corinthians in the County Cup. The visitors were well on top in the first half but had only one goal, scored by Joe Williams, to show for their efforts.

In the second half, Williams continued his superb form to score a hat-trick and take his tally to four for the match.

Further goals from Lewis Atkinson, Michael Taylor and Martin Nicholls, and a penalty save from keeper Scott Foster, gave a final scoreline of 7-1 to Swifts.

The under-13s won their Harlow Recreational League Cup quarter-final in a sudden death penalty shoot-out after their match against Crusaders had finished 2-2, Matt Thompson and Mark Reed scoring for Swifts.

First team players Jez Shaw, Ian Hollamby, Steve Luxford and Pat Jackman have been selected to represent the Essex Intermediate League side.
