A doctors' surgery in Finchley has become the first in the borough to have an NHS dentist practising under its roof.

The Wentworth Medical Practice, recently established in new premises in Wentworth Avenue, brought in dentist Paresh Patel on Monday last week.

Marian Nash, practice manager, said the idea had been warmly received.

"We have had patients registering like mad. Mr Patel does not exclusively register our patients, he will take other patients as well," she said.

The practice the oldest in Finchley was previously based in The Grove since 1940. Mrs Nash said it was now a "a one-stop doctors shop".

"The benefits for patients is that they know they are coming to the same place for all their medical needs they get continuity of care and if they need dental treatment that needs a doctor present that is not a problem," she added.

Mr Patel who has simultaneously set up a practice at the Audley Road Medical Centre, Hendon, said: "In this day and age people are looking for all their medical and dental care under one roof.

"In terms of primary care for patients, especially those who are working, it is nice for them not to have to go to several different places and to get all of their care out of the way."

Mr Patel will hold a late night surgery at the Wentworth Medical Practice on Thursdays and a morning surgery on Saturdays.
