HARPENDEN missed a golden opportunity to become early leaders of the Printwize East league Division Two on Saturday, October 13, when they missed a hatful of chances before finally drawing 3-3 at Sudbury.
Wise eventually found the net for the visitors after Dan Burgess had done well to force the short corner.
Minutes later, Tim Flowers made it two as Harpenden threatened to run away with it.
Burgess also came close to adding to the score but Harp had to be content with a two goal lead going into the break.
However, Harpenden sat back in the second half and Sudbury attacked to grab two goals in a ten-minute spell. The first came after a loose ball in a packed D, the second coming after keeper Alan Bright was beaten at his near post.
Sudbury came close to taking the lead when they hit the post as the home side looked like winning for the first time in the match.
Just when it looked like Harp would have been happy to settle for a draw, they hit back with a strike of their own.
Paul Nash won a free-hit which was quickly taken to tee up Timms who this time, made no mistake.
However, just when it looked like victory had been secured, Sudbury struck back, and with three minutes left on the clock, scored from a short corner to ensure a share of the spoils.
