WATFORD IRISH upset the form book as they ended high-flying Emeralds' unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory at the Watford Irish Centre.
In the battle between the landlords and the tenants, it was Irish who stunned the league leaders with a two-goal burst in the first half, with the first coming courtesy of a bullet header from Mick Steele from a Terry May cross.
Mario De-Crecenzo doubled their lead after he robbed the defender and fired home right-footed.
A solid performance from centre halves Paul Woods and Sean Moore provided the platform on which Irish built their victory, and avenged defeat earlier in the season.
"Far from being the whipping boys we are more than holding our own in this league," said Irish player manager John Morrissey.
"Today was a disappointment," said Emeralds boss Doug Robinson. "We were missing a lot of players, but we should have worked harder, and all credit to Watford Irish who quite rightly punished us for failing to.
"But we are a skilful and fit side, and I am confident we will be back on top form after this small setback."
