Recently, a gentleman writing in said that he had no choice but to move or go out of the area for his child's secondary schooling.
If we, as parents, do that then we leave no choice for the town. If we feel our children are so good, let's send them to Hertswood, and help build it up.
We know from the Year Six in our primary schools that we have some of Hertsmere's best children if they all went to Borehamwood what a school that would be!
I agree we cannot stand for a low standard of education for our children, but with a new school like Hertswood, with facilities and teaching staff especially selected to bring out the potential of every child to succeed, how can we judge until a few years hence?
If your child is not yet at secondary school, you do have a choice.
Those who were in Years Five and Six in middle school had no choice. If they come through all the disruption and, in three or four years time get good grades, I hope there will be praise for their achievements.
There are hundreds of children atHertswood School and we need to be building up their confidence in the school, not knocking it.
Ian Lucas and his team have only had them for a year, and have achieved a lot.
Let's start thinking: "They can do it," and realise the potential of Hertswood School for Borehamwood.
