FRIDAY, October 19, will see the official launch of the St Albans Hospital Action Group petition to save maternity services in Hemel Hempstead.
Unveiled by St Albans MP Kerry Pollard the petition aims to save maternity services at Hemel and protect the rights of mothers in St Albans and beyond.
Nurses and midwives will take to St Albans streets on Saturday to raise awareness and gather signatures for the petition.
People across St Albans, Harpenden and surrounding villages are being urged to support the petition and add their names to the growing list of concerned residents.
The petition to save the unit that serves St Albans mums-to-be was initiated by Mr Pollard at a meeting of concerned residents in St Albans.
Copies are available in the current edition of St Albans Observer and can also be collected from the observer's offices at the William Henry Building, Porters Wood, St Albans AL3 6PQ.
