AN urgent appeal is being made to runners in the Review Half Marathon to hand in their sponsorship cash as soon as possible so that local charities will not suffer following postponement of the event.
Celebrating its 21st anniversary the road race was held at the end of September instead of its usual June slot due to the foot and mouth crisis.
Now organisers are hoping runners will undertake another marathon task collecting all their sponsorship money in a matter of weeks instead of the usual months.
Main Half Marathon charity, Keech Cottage hospice for life limited children from Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, is currently facing a cash crisis that makes the Half Marathon contribution even more urgent.
The other local charities waiting for the money raised are Pentahact for autistic people, Earthworks, Harpenden Daylight Club for the disabled and Everyman supporting male cancer sufferers.
